Matthew Stewart reviews 'Still' by Alan Buckley (Blue Diode Press, 2025)
Lovely
I love the focus on technics in this review, it's so sensitive to detail.
brilliant. this is the poetry i love, revere. i will definitively buy this book read it and read it again for all its subtleties. marie papier
Alan has always been one of my favourite writers. Thanks for the excellent review.
Interesting to read how non-metrical poets organise their form, although I still need convincing that a syllabic count adds anything to the sound of a line. I did enjoy the poems though, the observation of nature and the alliterations in Outside.
A thoughtful review of an unshowy collection of lyric grace and —always a rare ingredient in poetry! — wisdom. Thanks for sharing.
